Mozez's rich tenor brought a nice depth to Zero 7's debut, and on his solo album, SO STILL, his voice takes center stage. Most of the tracks here are set firmly in the chill zone: from the woozy "Feel Free" to the soulful "Baby Blue"; from the more acoustic title track to the emotive "Spinning Top." Mozez also brings a number of different moods to his voice, bringing a brightness to "Somehow Now" or using his upper registers on "Getting Better." He even gets put through the vocoder on "Take the Sun." Nightmares on Wax leaves his considerable fingerprints on "Fuzz," leaving a stripped-down track with layered vocals, while "Venus Rise" gets more digital with its background. Henry Binns offers his services to "Beautiful Day," and it indeed sounds like a lost Zero 7 track. It's nice album, best suited for a lazy afternoon.
