I got this from a member of the backing band:
"I was the guitar player for "The Mysterious Clown" in 1967. Morris was 17 at the time. He was not rich, be he was able to pay to have this record made. The flip side was "Why Do I Have to Tell Him?," an anti-war song that was a (very) minor hit."

A great 45 - I only know the "Mysterious Clown" side, as it was also comped on the "Only In America" CD, released by Arf! Arf! in the mid 90's. I would best describe it as an inept attempt at garage rock, with some doo-wop influences (the background, out-of-tune vocalists).

As for the story listed in the 'Notes' section, I have heard it amongst the collector community, but I cannot confirm or deny it - could it be a rumor or the truth?
