what more can i say, the Holden's remix is magnificent, that's real progressive sound. Not the noise of nowadays labeled like progressive..

Maybe im wrong, but looks like Zimmer's "Dream is collapsing" from Inception OST clearly inspired from this one.

Why is this record so rediculously expensive? Sure it's a good track, but I kinda see where Mark Anthony is coming from on this, and it seems that some are caught up in the "sprituality" of the record.
Is the price so high based on peoples hype? Was this record an extremely limited pressing? Or am I missing something?

I totally missed this release first time around. I only stumbled upon 'The Sky Was Pink' when I heard it on Luke Slater's 'Fear And Loathing 2' mix CD. On the CD credits it's listed as the 'Icelandic Version', but he actually mixes it into the 'Holden Remix' half way through which works really well (i've totally copied this idea a few times!). God bless represses is all I can say!

This release also opened the door to James Holden's 'Border Community' for me, where many more great tunes can be found.

Very powerful, absolutely timeless track. In my top 3 "most listens" for electronic tracks. Interesting backstory to the track...Nathan Fake spent a whole night in a green tent (on B-Side) and when he got out in the morning his eyes had grown so accustomed to the color, that his vision was distorted and he perceived the "sky as pink". The Holden remix is the birth of minimal trance in my humble opinion. Very big respect to this track and the whole border community.

I bought this record based on its hype and hoped that I'd be able to "hear it" like everyone else does that loves it. I've given it listens on several different occasions at home on what I consider to be a solid home setup and I just cannot for the life of me get into it. Its not that its a bad track, its just not good to my ears and more importantly, I can't feel it.

I own probably half of the Border Community discography at this point and there's a lot of other releases that I would put before this one if I had to rank them. Extrawelts "Zu Fuss" and Petter's entire "Six Songs" blows this one away. I might have to experience this track in an altered state to really get it. Maybe one day...

Of course, the remix of James Holden is absolutely self-dependent track on this release. With its help the world has got to know the name of N. Fake. Of course, if a moment of inspiration of J. Holden would have concurred with appearance of another track, not Fake’s, the world would have got similar masterpiece. In support of this – Holden’s Techno Tool Remix is based absolutely on Holden’s main remix. The Dancefloor has got a similar example – Timo Maas with his remix of Azzido Da Bass “Dooms Night” (have you ever heard the original version?).

But it’s not fair not to keep in mind the Fake’s creation. It should be named here - Original Live Take and Icelandic Version. Beautiful (!) melodic progressive downtempo tracks with especial FX, catchy melodie, exclusive IDM-like production. Master’s at work!

Original Live Take – listening to it one can imagine, why the track was called “The Sky Was Pink”. Pink sky on the sunset. Dreamy philosophical evening mood after the brain-funking day. Slow bpm. So is the Icelandic Version, but it’s a bit more energetic, the bpm is club-like, though absolutely without dance-bass&drums, still being dreamy and philosophical.

Who knows, maybe the talent of Nathan Fake inspired James Holden with his further e-scene promotion…
