Debut release from Nax Acid for his fledgling Aconito records with an ice cold sheet of atmospheric acidic techno. Nax Acid is a young producer with an obvious affection for the classic acid styles of Aphex Twin which he channels into a serenely dark and mesmerising side of pulsing 303's and rich analogue synths, also reminding us of Tin Man's stripped and clinical approach which was in itself reminiscent of Mika Vainio's Ø project. This is classy gear, make sure you give it a listen. Mental Groove's Giorgio Gigli provides an edit of 'The Soul Trap' on the flipside, extending the groove further into spectral acid territory with a wide open spaciousness normally associated with electro acoustic compositions and based around well selected analogue tones maximsed for proper floor hypnotising effect. Probably the best techno record you'll hear all week. Check!

Aconito is a brand new London based record label owned by Andrea Ruffino aka nAX_acid . The label is a sonic experiment with techno, minimal and also with ambient and electronica, to create a new atmospheric techno voyage. The label will be characterized by deep and dark, but also sweet and sublime sounds to drive people into a hypnotic suggestion, thanks also to the warmness of the sounds. Not just to hit the dance floor and to make feet move, but even to hit minds and hearts with melodies and atmospheres, and to create and play with emotions…The first release is by Ruffino himself, and fits in perfectly with the label ethos. Eerie drones wash around a simple beat and sequence, until the track breaks down and a driving bassline pushes it onwards. Deceptively simple, this is all about the atmosphere...On the flipside, Giorgio Gigli (Elettronica Romana, Dumb Unit, Mental Groove) gets straight to the heart of the matter with very simple rhythm programming that supports dubbed out sonic experimentation and psycho-acoustic textures. A very strong, and enigmatic, start for the label...
