Violent music to describe an equally violent reality. Twenty-seven years : this is the duration of the conflict between the two main Angolan independence movements after Portugal’s withdrawal from the country. It was during this conflict that Nazar was born in Belgium, while his family was still directly concerned by the events in the country.
This EP Enclave is a real step back to his roots, a desire to immerse himself in a past that he did not experience, by drawing attention on the 6 tracks of the EP the conflict and its resonances in Angolan society and in some ways justify the absence of his father, remained on the spot, while Nazar grew up in the shelter of Europe. This is translated musically by a dark music, sometimes violent, unstructured, influenced by the local music : the kuduro. Spotted by Kode9 and Burial in their Fabriclive100, Nazar now takes advantage of his exhibition to tell in his music what he sees in his country : the violence, the frustration, the injustice caused by the colonization, that one can be hear on the eponymous track Enclave.
