20th. Antiversary Offensive does not have the physical destructive power that Seinsart had, nor the sonic driving force that Final Live Performance had. The music changes its shape rapidly but, oddly enough, this piece of work does not develop in any direction. It sounds more spontaneous and nihilistic than ever and I think it is amazing that there is no 'live feel' here. There is no experimental/noise group that can create such unique sound collage except TNB, I have to take my hat off to them for their artistic sense.
Though few people have mentioned this, TNB in the 21st century is neither an industrial group or a noise group. I think 20th. Antiversary Offensive should be compared with French electro-acoustic music on INA/GRM. In fact, this live recording reminded me of some of Denis Dufour's albums and Francis Dhomont's Frankenstein-like sonic collage music. Though this is a live album, it's more complicated and elaborate than some studio recordings. TNB is always paradoxical and always take advantage of our unpreparedness. The musical tension of this album knocked me down. - SIREN (Japan)
