Was ist das ? Power-Metal mit weiblichen Sopran-Gesang, genial. Damit keine Mißverständnisse, seitens dieser Kritik aufkommen, erkläre ich jetzt hiermit, daß ich den Nachfolger "Wishmaster" (insgesamt das dritte Album) schon gehört habe, welches dieses Album um Längen übertrifft. Meist nach einem druckvollen Intro setzt die wundervolle Stimme von Tarja ein, die einen gewissen Reiz hat. Insgesamt ist alles sehr druckvoll: Der Drummer ("Devil & the deep dark ocean"), der Keyboarder ("The pharao sails to the orion") und selbst eine Flöte wird in "Gethsemane" druckvoll eingesetzt. Ebenfalls nachvollziehbar bei dem Instrumentalstück "Moondance". Nicht nur in dem ruhigen Stück "Swanheart" und der schönen Ballade "Sleeping sun" kann man hören, daß die Gesangausbildung von Tajra Gold wert war bzw. ist. Nur das Frohlocken in "Passion and the opera" passt nicht so. Ebenfalls sollten sie die männlichen Gesangseinlagen, zu hören in "Devil & the deep dark ocean" und "The pharao sails to orion" weglassen, da diese zu sehr aus dem Death-Metal-Bereich kommen. Noch ein Nachteil dieser Platte ist, daß man sie beim ersten Hören göttlich findet, aber sie beim dritten und vierten Mal langsam ihre Reize verliert, und dann auch bereits nach dem neunten Song langweilig bzw. monoton wirkt. Daher auch die niedrige Punktzahl. Aber der Nachfolger hat viel viel mehr erreicht.

The advertised Catalog Number is 74321 66168 2 for 1998 while the photo image of the disk has it as 74321 70359 2 for the year 1999.
