Disgusted by the commercial role he was assumed to play after scoring some major hits in the mid-sixties, the intelligent and melancholic Nino ferrer went his own way in the early seventies. "Le Sud" (with the exception of the title track "Le Sud" all of the tracks are English-spoken) stays one of his most authentic albums and contains more than one now forgotten gem. Born in 1934 Nino Ferrer tragicly put an end to his life in 1998 by shooting himself in the heart in a corn field.
