At the softest end of the psychedelic spectrum, but nevertheless a vital piece of the complete UK psych jigsaw for anyone wanting to understand the kaleidoscopic Brit music underground of the time. Very European sounding, perhaps not surprising given Alex was Greek and Patrick Irish, the emphasis was on lilting melodies, inventive and lush arrangements. It was also something of a concept album, set in a futuristic fantasy world. Altogether, an ambitious pop LP that fitted neatly with the psychedelic goings-on at the time.

Nirvana were always portrayed in the press of the day as the inevitable next big thing and while critics loved them, the public never bought their records in quantities that made them anything more than a cult attraction. They did get a minor hit with Rainbow Chaser in 1968, which scraped into the top 40, but sales were downhill from there, despite Nirvana continuing to release some great records.

As far as progressive, pop psych goes, this one is a winner. The album has it all; catchy songs, pop hooks, psychedelic production, etc. I listen to this record from beginning to end without skipping a single track. How many records can you say that about? They are few and far between. In my opinion the main stand-out track is "Satellite Jockey."
