So you find a time machine and what you do? Do you jump into it or not?
The response, at least for Njurmännen seem to have been "Yes".But instead of exploring distant epochs they just made an excursion to the 70's Krautrock and 80's Deutsche welle sensibilities in order to came back in the 90's with a whole pack of ideas to combine them at the studio with all the modern devices of the time.
In this travel they were accompanied by some guy called Peter Andersson, at the time just an experimentalist boy scout.
But don't fool yourself as the presence from this guy there is somehow definitive in the realization of this album.
The Deutsch Nepal spirit is present, all that compulsory rhythm, that delusory hypnotism and that magnetic over-sexualized atmosphere is there, developing, slowly surfacing it's incidental hiding place.
The music is strange perhaps more because of the time it was made, 80's were long gone and Deutsche welle was overly dethroned by Industrialism and synthesized arrangements. The era of trance was starting it's acme and to find a band experimenting with old concepts was a divergency.
It's a funny album though, full of crazyness and flavorful beat hooks with a psychodelic thingy and an evident interest in diversion as product of the deutsche welle influence, but still there's parts that have hard accents of dark industrial experimentalism.
Want to return to the past and explore what these guys adventured there? get this album, you'll not be dissapointed.
