Novalima's album of Afro-Peruvian grooves, COBA COBA gets the full remix treatment here from like-minded individuals. Da Lata, for instance, keep the indigenous funk going on "Tumbala," while both Zeb and DJ Spam put a dub rub on their respective versions of "Ruperta." For those who prefer their tracks with a house tip, Toni Economides and Faze Action transform "Coba Guarango" and "Yo Voy," each in turn. Seiji takes on two tracks, the electro-tinged "Tumbala (Qreja Mix)" and a breaks-oriented mix of "Yo Voy." Boozoo Bajou chill things out with "Africa Lando," and if two continents weren't enough, EarthRise also introduces Middle Eastern elements into his mix of "Se Me Van." StreamPilot offers a deep house mix of "Tumbala" that slowly gives way to the more tribal elements, and Daniel Haaksman's mix of "Yo Voy" closes the album on more of that Afro-Latin percussion, with some electronic squelches for good measure. Nice collection overall.
