Due to the problems I have been having re: space on this website, I have been waiting for a long while to review this album and have thus heard it a great number of times. Primarily it consists of flutes, tenor sax & clarinet, courtesy of IRA SCHULMAN, and guitar from IGOR. There's what seems to be a ragged, deliberate clumsiness to the compositions which, rather than distracting you from the music, actually gives it greater charm. It has a lazy Beat Generation Easy Listening sound, a seductive voyage through fairly minimal compositions which, given it's chunky mix, can sound often cumbersome and seems to court disaster. Yet they keep control and make what is essentially a collection of (overall) beautiful works a tad more dangerous by the very roughness of the mix. It sounds kinda live and seems to utilise few overdubs or effects. And despite the improvisational approach to the music, there seem to be a plethora of distinctive themes and plenty of hooky sounds which will have you replaying it again and again.
Throughout it seems unable not to touch on Ethnic and Medieval music, although more as a series of reference points than as any great influences.
