post-Magical Ring French band, and a rare occasion of underground French Prog sung in English. Open Air comprised of ex-Alice Jean-Pierre Auffredo and Gérard Zajd on guitars, ex-Michel Zacha Alan Jones on bass, drummer Philippe Aboukrat, keyboardist Jean-Pierre Decerf and lead singer Clarel Betsy. On their sole effort they played an odd Symphonic Rock with beautiful Genesis-inspired instrumental parts, complemented by nice vocal sections and some pre-New Wave influences in the beat grooves popping out here and there. The sharp synth lines and crying electric solos have something in common with Hungarians Solaris, although stylistically they were far from their sound, focusing on a much more British-styled with weird, distorted vocals at moments and playful keyboards. Decerf followed the band's dissolution with a long career in the fields of Electronic and Library Music, while Gérard Zajd released a pair of solo albums in the 80's in a rather Synth-Space Pop vein.
