Optical definitely raised the bar for dnb production in 97. Other producers had to keep up. He was definitely among the vanguard of producers of that era who were exploiting the newest technology to the fullest extent and pushing dnb to the next level....shaping the future.

Too bad he mostly stopped making solo stuff after he joined in collaboration with Ed Rush. Before then, Optical had a seemingly unparalleled sound, very futuristic and abstract.

The Shining is Optical in full flight. Refined but raw. Cold but warm. The flip is fantastic. This 12" defines an era for me.

this tunes intro is one of DNB's best of all time.. and the tune itself is a smasher to say the least... makes my hair stand up every time... must've played this track at least 500 times over the course of 20 years.. got it in '97 upon its release and is still one of my all time favs... must have record for the everyday junglist / DNB head.. the flip is dark as can be and is stellar as well.. totally worth the $3-5 being asked for it...

The Shinning is one of the genres best tracks IMO. Classic
