This is a very interesting live album by Oscar Peterson. The first half of the disc, The Bach Suite, is a very good example of what Oscar does best at the piano, and that's get the crowd into it and moving. The Allegro is a great track all in it's own as well. The disc then slows down to the very predictable City Lights. Kind of a boring track and doesn't fit this set much. My personal favorite on here is Caravan and it's simply amazing. Not only is it dark sounding but Oscar pludges at the piano for the first 2 minutes and creates this great movement of high energy that sets up for when the rest of the band steps in later on. Joe Pass simply blows guitar riffs in and out so fast that I really wish I could see him play just to prove to my self that someone can play that good live! One of my favorite paino leading jazz tracks ever!
The CD bonus track isn't anything to go hunting for and I'd rather have this on LP. Overall this live set would have been a marvel to have been at but I guess I just have to settle for good ole' Oscar on vinyl one day.
