The warm tones and deep bass bits of "Klukka" that open Ozy's debut, TOKEI, are an ambient small hint of what's to come: lovely tech house. "Sagrada Familia," for example, hums to its driving beat, while "Pull The Strings" goes a more minimal route. Ozy loves keeping things varied: "The Key To Music Is Mo(n/k)ey" definitely has its fingers in microhouse, while "Work/Money/Alcohol/Sleep/Work/Pudding" goes deep, and "Dis-En-Gaged" takes on a light trance-like feel. "Timendurancelevatorock" returns to the minimal, though darker this time, and "Gin And (Bi/T)onic" bounces to its own spry rhythm. And not surprisingly, "Drama Club" closes the album on more ambience. A really strong showing.

Force Inc continues with its revolutionary task of producing tasteful albums of the best in microhouse, minimal techno and deep tech-house. Ozy's Tokei is no exception. Through 12 tracks, this islandian (sic) keeps a fresh vibe of Eno-esque ambiences mixed with very danceable patterns and some percussive impressions made out of glitches and microsamplings, more in a Mille Plateaux vibe.
Microhouse at its finest.
