I have the bootleg too - it has the same spelling mistakes on the back cover: 'Highway '61 Revisuited' and 'Soft Queenie' (as opposed to 50ft). To be honest, I wasn't sure what to expect...but it was affordable and will indulge me well, until some proper remastered coloured gatefold vinyl editions are re-released! ;-) Constantly amazed at seeing lots of the rubbish being churned out on vinyl - yet outstanding artists such as PJ Harvey appear to be missed! To be honest, the sound is much much better than what I thought. Tiny bit of noise before the album starts on track 1 - but everything else, overall, was very very good! ;-)

Assuming this is the same bootleg I have, I'll say my piece.... My copy has Highway 61 Revisuited (typo) on back of sleeve....blue labels... Nice package, printed inner sleeve and polly lined sleeve also....no matrix. I think it sounds fantastic! I don't feel it plays low, anything but... The levels are all over the shop on this album anyway, it's a rough round the edges filthy album by design... Tricks you into turning it up, then smacks you in the chops! F***ing love it! This is a decent press, hardly any surface/needle noise, I've heard plenty worse legitimate pressings...I highly recommend it to those people who like me, haven't got hundreds of pounds to spend on an original! Truth is, we wouldn't need to buy a bootleg if they sorted out a proper repress!

I might have bought this bootleg... On the back cover of my version there's a typo: "Highway 61 Revisuited". Is this the one? Sound is ok, btw.

Can someone list how to tell a counterfeit from the genuine? I paid a pretty penny for what I believe to be authentic, but I want to make sure.

So, I just listened to my copy. It's beautifully pressed, very quiet, and the jacket and inner printed sleeve are beautiful. The sound is not that great. I suspect it's sourced from a CD and wasn't properly EQ'd for the vinyl. I'd give it a 6/10 compared to the CD copy I have. Although, it does have warmer tones.

I also bought it for 15 euro.
It is a rip off, but now I'm wiser. I should've known. It's too good to be true.
No more of these in the future.
Just wait for a good reissue and don't pay hundreds of Euro or $ for a real one.
I simply refuse to do so..
Eels' Beautiful freak on Back 2 Black was worthwhile waiting for instead of paying 400.
I'm gonna frame it and stick to the CD.

I have tried about 5 copies of this hoping to get one as a shelf filler. As pirate LP's go, you have to admit it looks the part. I'll agree, the playback level is quite low but the vinyl is remarkably quiet so not quite the end of the world. The real issue is that every copy, without exception had side one pressed off-centre rendering the whole thing utterly useless unless you fancy framing the sleeve...

Universal really need to pull their corporate finger out and reissue this.

Beware! I was conned into buying one of these as if it were an original pressing (not by a discogs seller, I should add), supposedly in mint condition. I thought it was too good to be true. The sound reproduction on these 'unofficial reissues' is absolutely appalling. I was alarmed at just how poor it is, having to crank the volume on my amp up to twice the normal level to hear anything worthwhile, then only to get the sound of the grooves as additional and unwelcome accompaniment. When I discovered that these 'reissues' existed I put 2 and 2 together. Avoid this record at all costs, pay the money for an original, otherwise I promise you will be bitterly disappointed. I am.
