Bone Sucka is supposed to be one of the best tracks of that year according to some sources. Nope. This emperor has no clothes. Very retro, with overused samples that maybe have languished long enough in the archives that they sound new to a younger generation, but for me feels rather hackneyed.

For a breakbeat head 'Bone Sucka' is a welcome change to the usual tech/dub crossover template from Kevin McAuley, and a real attention grabber. Simple, dirty & unsophisticated, it might not appeal to all, but will smash home its brutal message nicely on a big system. Not sure about the wobbly tape/phasing effects on the intro/outro though; doesn't sound right or good to my ears, more like a pressing fault & an annoyance in the mix. B side 'Proxy' is back to Pangaea's shimmering dubby techno of late, with a polished piano riff. Large, for sure, but I'm a sucka for the rough imperfection on the flip...
