Panicsville is an odd group project fronted by Andy Ortmann. Their sound consists of cinegraphic like collages of electronics which border on the quirky and creepy. Mr. Ortmann has a knack for high-fidelity recording, always able to capture in beautiful detail his personalized audio vision. However, there is not a strong sense of cohesion between the sounds themselves on Sterile. With such a fine attention to rich audio detail, I was hoping for a more purposeful and narrative use of the sounds. These pieces are loosely associated collages of sounds rather than the well plotted story I was hoping to hear.
