Paradis (2) - Recto Verso is an astonishingly, deeply infectious electronica album that will hit you emotionally unlike any other release from this genre ever can or ever will. This marvellous double-LP offers you a gorgeous package with highly captivating songs drenched in mesmerizing, airy melodies which will make you indulge in them over and over again.

All of the songs are accompanied by truly meaningful, beautiful lyrics. Musically, they are so sophisticated and concise at the same time - it is almost surreal. Hence virtually every track is a true marvel.

Thanks to the sensual vocals provided by Simon Mény and, most importantly, the impeccable, cohesive production work provided by Pierre Rousseau, “Recto Verso” is indisputably the finest piece of electronic dance music released in the past ten years 🏆🥇.

“Recto Verso" is a true masterpiece in its own right and therefore HIGHLY, HIGHLY RECOMMENDED ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ !

☝️Last but not least: I hate to be the bearer of bad news - And I am sorry if I burst anyone's bubble out there. But this magnificent album will most likely not be reissued any time soon! Why?

Well, Paradis (2) actually does no longer exist as a group anymore unfortunately. The two members, Simon Mény and Pierre Rousseau, had a big argument during the initial promo campaign of “Recto Verso” back in 2016. They decided to go separate ways ever since.

Background: During the promo tour for their album, the two artists performed live in various venues in France and Switzerland. However, they were not well received. It became all too evident that, like so many other EDM acts, Paradis (2) also struggled to replicate their amazing studio sound to make it work for live performances. Just check the video with "Garde Le Pour Toi" I have linked to this page and you will get the idea.

Let’s face it: Paradis (2) performing “live in concert” simply did not live up to its previous, groundbreaking studio accomplishments.

Furthermore, Pierre Rousseau also wanted to focus more on his obviously outstanding skills as a studio wizard by producing other artists as well. Something he has been doing with ever growing success since his exit from the Paradis (2) project. Just have a look at his discography as a producer and you will agree with me 👍.

In hindsight, Paradis (2) was basically D.O.A. almost immediately after “Recto Verso” was released. Consequently, the group’s record label, Universal Music France, then also abandoned all promotional activities in support of the Paradis (2) project swiftly thereafter.

The same goes for the opulent, super limited 2x12” 180g vinyl release of “Recto Verso” with its deluxe packaging including fan booklet, obi-type sticker, CD etc. There is simply no economic interest for Universal Music France, in addition of such an undertaking also being too expensive, to reproduce such a lavish vinyl package just to satisfy a few additional vinyl enthusiast like you and me out there.

So, there you have it. And if you like it or not: Vinyl is and remains a niche by-product of the recording industry nowadays. Therefore, you have to buy these super limited vinyl issues of new albums such as Paradis (2) - Recto Verso right away before they disappear just as quickly again 😉.

Does anyone have any information about reissue? Or is it never planned.

Don't want to ruin the prices (320€ for an LP, seriously ?) but I heard there was going to be a repress soon ; )

I won't spoil anything, especially since the other reviewers told so much already.
I'm listening to all kind of music (classic, rock, pop, electronic etc.) for over 30 years and let me tell you that this is one of the best albums ever produced; a brilliant mixture of Electronic and Chansons Françaises.
Just press play and listen from start to end. This album will take you on a journey you won't forget. After that it will be hard for you to find better music - probably ever.

This an amazing album, I bought it when it was released but why these kind of prices, it completely out of control. The vinyls market should not be like the Nasdaq....

Wow, the 2018 prices are a surprise! ($150+!) But given how good this record is, and the fact that it was a French-only pressing, the prices actually make sense. This should have been a huge record everywhere. (Their first two singles on BiS are incredible too.) 🙂

What a brilliant Album ! Smooth, sweet, deep, warm, soft, flying... A piece of art, helped by the previous single : "Garde-le Pour Toi". All is excellent in this album, timeless tracks, a must have ! "Paradis" reprise is a real surprise; keep an ear on their adaptation of "La Ballade de Jim" too... French talentuous duo.

Quality pressing. Definitely one of the better electronic genre records I own. They really put the effort into every aspect of this release. Highly recommended.
Also, check out Roosevelt if you like this.
