The centre label incorrectly states that the logo side is Self Hypnosis and the info side is Don't Lead Me.

On the vinyl itself, the opposite is correct.

Back in the day, when we were known by the older generation as a bunch of crazy mofo's who stayed out all night listening to repetative beats, everyone I knew or 'nearly knew' always said to me... "Yeh, but have you heard the Mr Whippy Mix of Nexus 21 - Self Hypnosis?" . "Yeh, Yeh, but the original is the best!' I'd reply. And I still stand by that statement.

The Whippy Mix has aged, but this mix you could still slam out now in any club. It's beautifully deep, with an Eerie Aurora. The start sounds like the beats are just ticking through Time and Space, then the deep.. 'durn, der durn, der durn' bassline thunders through you, building up to that unforgetable 'ice cream van' riff. Mark Archer actually explains in his Autobiography what keyboard made that riff, would you believe it, it's a piano preset.

I also like at the very end of the track, when it fades out, how.. either Mark or Chris go crazy with the modulator creating another riff before the track fades into Space.

The original mix of 'Self Hypnosis', that was only available on this Limited Edition promotional 12" record is an absolute stone cold Techno classic. Self Hypnosis was also available on the Bio Rhyhm LP, and If I remember rightly, this mix also featured on the Deep Heat 8 compilation. (8 how ironic). But if you want the original 12", this is it!

I was lucky enough to get one of these promo's around 1991, before that I had it on a cassette on repeat. If your an Old Skool Techno head/collector, then this needs to be in your collection!

First heard Paris Grey – Don’t Lead Me on the Bio Rhythm’s CD and fell in love with it instantly (the 2001 version) and has been one of my all time favourites tunes ever since. Deep heavy rolling bass and strings, with some great percussion laid over the top, a heavy kick and the vocal snippets “I don’t wanna be free don’t lead me” . Never tire of this mix and one of the tunes that got me into dance music all that time ago. Self Hypnosis is another great tune, worth listening to this sampler, two great solid tunes.
