Pat Metheny ‎– From This Place

Anybody willing to explain what the "bonus track" situation refers to? It is on all formats and releases so what kind of a "bonus" is it then if not an incentive to purchase a specific release? Curious...

If a perfect album deserves 5 stars, as downbeat does, this album deserves something more!!! Speechless!!!!!!!!!!

This release is completely identical to the European release (incl. matrix run out numbers). Only difference seems to be that the US release has no insert. But this has nothing to do with the record or the pressing or the sleeve. I suggest that the two releases are merged into one (EU + USA) with a note saying, that insert only is included in EU.

Metheny is like Carla Bley, in that when I love her it is over the top, otherwise get lost a little sometimes

I would also like to say, that after 45 odd years of musical mastery, this album is an absolute masterpiece. It's amazing how Metheny continues to make contemporary jazz sound fresh again, with his tell-tale style. For anybody interested in Pat's music or Jazz in general a must buy on vinyl. My pressing sounds perfect, huge soundstage, great mastering with plenty of headroom for turning this up loud. Would have preferred a gatefold with some nice inner artwork, but there's an insert, and the discs are high quality as is the sleeve. I would also love to see his other masterpiece from 1996"Imaginary Day" pressed on vinyl, long overdue and needed--

This album is a masterpiece. Unfortunately, the vinyl release I received was flawed. Many tracks have a kind of hiccuping fadeout, and the levels seem compressed and muted, such that I have to turn up the volume quite high to get a reasonable level. Much detail is lost from the digital release, much more so than one might expect. Perhaps I received a faulty album, but I would recommend buying this on CD, not vinyl.

Very similar to a lot of his recent albums (i.e “The Way Up” LP) a lot of overcooked Orchestral arrangements. Not a lot you haven’t heard before but still good. A little disappointed.

So nice to hear that it's still possible to get such wonderful music in 2020 AND even on LP. What a joy. Heard it first time here and will go buy the LP tomorrow.
