Released in 1995 around the same time that Austrailian ambient composer Schütze produced O Yuki Conjugate’s Equator album. Fell has a much more ecclectic feel. It presages the static ambient soundscapes that Schütze would feature on his double album, Apart, from the same year. Moving through soundworlds set apart by extended ambient passages, Fell has the feel of a travelogue, capturing protest voices, the ambience of public spaces, non-Western chants, and acoustic instrumental interludes. In a word; ambient music -- laced with post-industrial dread and absent the detached austerity of Eno or the populist jokes of The Orb.
