Supraphon Release Information

The continuation of the platinum disc-winning compilation Obyčejný muž (An Ordinary Man) is here at last!

The album presents another series of songs splendidly supplementing the previous compilation, with the two mapping Petr Spálený’s creation in the most comprehensive manner possible.

The selection, made by the singer himself together with Pavel Krejča, the band master of his band Apollo, gives a vivid picture of the individual decades, with the licences (Apollo Records Comp., Popron Music) suitably underlining their atmosphere. The gems of the 1960s include the songs Mečíky and Obraz v kaluži, the next decade is symbolised by the hits Bylo fajn and Má, dva roky má, the refreshed sound of the 1980s is represented by the pieces Já věřím tvým snům and Já ho jen od vidění znám.

The most contemporary phase of Spálený’s career is also remarkable for his artistic self-sufficiency, as documented by the standout songs from the most recent albums, Na týhle planetě už zůstanu (2001), and Jackpot (Supraphon, 2005). The compilation also included a few rarities, such as the original version of Spálený’s own piece Oči koní (recently sensitively revived by Václav Neckář), as well as brand-new recordings of the song Lenko, for the very first time rendering the true southern sound.

Petr Spálený has been active on the music scene for more than four decades. This compilation affords the listener the opportunity to gauge just how fascinating an era, variable in stylistic terms yet firmly connected by his voice and singularity, it has been. Although a necessary follow-up to the first selection, Obyčejný muž, it also serves as proof of the singer’s unceasing acclaim.

A continuation of the collection of Petr Spálený’s hits!
