We have waited enough, Phase is here!

Lately we can hear many new bands – al hail the Internet for that lovely opportunity – but don’t many of them sound too similar? It became quite hard to find those special, unique and memorable bands. Yet, if you are persistent enough, you can still find a band to love, a band that sounds great and has powerful lyrics. Phase is definitely one of those bands.

Their new album called ‘Wait’ won’t make you wait too long to get high quality music. All of their 10 songs are truly remarkable art work. Phase seems like highly functional band, in harmony with their instruments and driven by understanding between members’ creative energy. They also seem like real perfectionists – you can’t find any faults in their music. The blend of hard sound and soft emotions creates some kind of esoteric feeling while you listen to their stuff. You are in the past, presence and future at the same time.

I couldn’t say which song is my next favorite melody, but there is one you should definitely pay attention to. It’s called “Point of You”. I’ll just point out some of the strong lyrics from this song:

Lying is not denying

Seeing is not believing

True story! If you are about to listen to their music, get ready for such mind-blowing words and sincere messages. And I swear they remind me of some music giants such as Marilyn Manson – not because they copy such authors, but because that’s their level of power.

My final impression about this band is that they are going places. Yes, they definitely have a bright future. They are fresh, original and, as I can feel, true to their plans, dreams and affinities. I hope they will keep up with the good work, with all their devotion and emotion. I believe seeing them live would be totally awesome experience!

Phase is a United Kingdom based rock band who formed in Greece in 2003. They currently have two albums under their belt with “In Consequence” released in 2010 and “The Wait” released in 2014. Their current lineup consists of Thanos Grigoriou – spoken poetry, a variety of stringed instruments (2003–present) Damianos Harharidis – Bass, Synths (2011–present) Vasilis Liapis – Guitar, Piano (2011–present) Adam Schindler – (2014–present).

To begin their music is exquisite, Phase has a fresh sound, with phenomenal riffs, vocals, and have a fullness to each song that is unprecedented in modern music. Their sound has a very progressive feel to it, that’s not to heavy, but still heavy enough to get you to bang your head. If you are a fan of alternative, experimental, Nine Inch Nails, or Puscifer I recommend these guys to you.

Predition

On the album The Consequence the song perdition is quite honestly something I haven’t heard before. IT begins with what a middle eastern like synth sound, with heavy guitar riff undertones, with alien like effect vocals that bring the entire song to life! Perdition is unique, catchy, and has a sound that sticks. The sound is very unique, and is a must listen.

Transcendence

Transcendence begins with a soft acoustic guitar before it leads you into a TOOL like sound, mixed with dark synths and a great drum pattern that keeps you longing to hear more. When the vocals start he puts you in a trance like state with his soft calming style. The guitar riffs have an amazing progressive sound that builds up into a space like synth and guitar solo. I can see why they decided to call the song transcendence because it really makes you transcend into a happy place.

Overall the album is relaxing, progressive and to simply put it, great!

The Wait was released four years after their debut album, but believe it or not they kept their same wicked sound which is a rarity. The overall album is majestic and will take you on a magical roller coaster filled with obscurity.

Point Of You

Point of You is one of my favorites on the album, the song is filled with heavy guitar riffs, and catchy vocals. The sound leans more towards the darker end, but still maintains a good balance of dark and progressive sounds. The sound is intense and keeps you longing for more.

Birthday Song

“Birthday Song” is an amazing concept, you would expect it to be happy, considering the title, but it’s very dark, opening up with an acoustic guitar and piano to add to the darkness. The vocals are different, using a unique vocal sound, that adds to the depth of the song. The lyrics to the song are also dark, but fit the picture they paint through sound perfectly. It’s like their touching on the idea of growing older, and how it’s “depressing” as we long for the past and being young, or miss loved ones.

Phase is extraordinary and as I said before, a must listen for those that like obscure music, with dark and progressive elements.
