Rob Ellis (Pinch) is a very talented producer- let's say that upfront. This album showcases at least some of his ability to make effortless sounding, minimalist soundscapes either with or without a vocalist. He has subsequently showed himself to be an artist who rewards a following listener with excellence. I recommend this album & his other works, both solo and collaborative, to the discerning Bass music enthusiast.

It's hard to explain to the whomp kids that every dubstep track does not have to sound the same. Maybe when they grow up they'll begin to appreciate albums like Underwater Dancehall, artists like Andy Stott and Martyn, and labels like Daphne. I suppose dubstep will follow the same fate as drum and bass, tastes will mature, bros will hunt pussy instead of modulated basslines, and it will be easier to sweep away the trash so more people can discover masterpieces like Underwater Dancehall (Instrumentals).

In short: Pinch maxes the bass and makes sexy, danceable dubstep without succumbing to whompstep ridiculousness. He made a timeless album with these instrumentals.
Get it.

This is the most breath-taking, life-changing album of my entire life. I've been listening to electronic music for 10+ years, and nothing has ever struck me as fully and deeply as these two slabs of wax. If you have a chance to get this album, do it. This is one that you hope your grandkids find and listen to.

It changes people.
