Well, looks like I’m sticking to my NM original pressing! They should fix this somehow and reissue the record. Too bad! At least the rest of the reissue run was pretty damn solid.

Some people complain about (slight) distortion on side 2 of LP1. My copy sounds realy great, also on that side (without distortion). It sounds a lot better then my old LP from 1988.

I agree there's something wrong with LP1 side2, especially "Sorrow" but not sure what it is. Some kind of slight distortion in higher tones. However it is not audible throughout the whole side and it's not that awful after all. Heard worse. Other than that it's a great record.

I have an old original copy and I can say that new copy is quite good compared to the old one.
I also have the issue with the side 2 of disc1, it is awful.
All other side are OK.

Really? Just got a copy and this sounds great. Much better than the original pressing and don't get me started on the CD or cassette copies.

I'm listening to "Sorrow," first track on Disc 01 Side 02, and HOLY SHIT, does this ever sound like garbage.

AWFUL. Just as others have stated: digital crap distortion.

(The original compact discs are a million times better than this tripe)

Same problem over here with the digital distortion on the higher guitar sounds of side 2. Stresses me on headphones but it's not heavily noticeable when listening to it on loudspeakers with moderate volume. All other sides sound great which makes it still an OK pressing in total for me.

Well I've listen this album two times by now, and I can say about the quality of this reissue that by now is my least favorite of all reissues ( I don' t have ACoGDS). There is some improvement in the sound, it is more sharp, more clear, the bass in some songs is more noticeable, altought there's a bad side, in some songs the guitar is very high and there's some distortion. This caracteristic is also similar in the old pressings, but a little more noticeable in this version. This would be ok, but in my copy the 2nd Side has a huge problem, during Sorrow, The Dogs of War and On the Turning Away, there's some sort of feeback in the higher notes that is very unpleasant. I share this situation with you to see if somebody has that too. By now it's me and ricolek that aparantely that have this issue! Maybe I will exchange for another copy. Altought my copy has some dirt on it, but without any scratch, after some cleaning it was ok!

I hear noticable distortion in the lead guitar track mainly in the track Sorrow (no this isn't a joke about his guitar pedals), it sounds really unpleasant.

How is the sound and pressing quality of this release?
