High School . . . I'm a Sophomore . . . "Frankenstein" by the Edgar Winter Group just ended on the radio . . . and now we got "The Joker" by the Steve Miller Band playing . . . and we're riding down "D" Street to a Drive-in . . . . . . those were the best days of my life that I'll never forget! And this one Album defines my teenage years as the sound-track of my life! "The Dark Side Of The Moon" went on to become one of the most listened to, and most purchased Albums in history and rightly so! If you have never heard this Album, you must hear it from the first track . . . to the very ending track! You will never forget the event of your first hearing of this OUTSTANDING Album! And it is so much better heard if you are a bit mentally altered to another level of experience! So . . . sit back . . . settle in . . . and close your eyes . . . for you are about to set sail to another realm of reality! Enjoy!!!

This album was part of the period that Pink Floyd entered as a group that marked a change in direction when the musical style is considered and the form of the songwriting that defined the concept of the album's creative influence following the passing of the original and early member of the group Syd Barret. During this point in the bands creative design to their music marked the period when David Gilmour took over as guitarist and principal songwriter.

When I came home from Vietnam I felt funky( I was in a funk, they did not have Post stress and all that in 1973) I reported for duty at McGuire AFB, NJ on March 17, 1973, which I believe is the release date for Darkside of the Moon. Two days later I discovered FM Radio and Pink Floyd. Saturday June 16, 1973, Roosevelt Stadium, Jersey City, NJ. I watched Pink Floyd perform Darkside of the Moon. I was officially De-Funked and life has not been the same since. That album and headphones have got me throught many a crisis, as well as my 30yr son and 28yr daughter. If anyone has any info I would be grateful. Side 1 etched SMAS 1 11163 F15 #1 with a 2 etched over the 1 to make it F25 #1 and mastered by Capitol pressed at about vthe 5:30 position Side 2 SMAS 2 11163 F15 # 5 Cover front Pyramid and prism Back cover Pyramid and Prism twice as large and upside down has Harvest emblem and 1973 The Gramophone Company Limited, inside cover has all selections published and copyright by TRO Hampshire House publishing Corp and Pats Pending INTERPAK PS This album was made to listen to it in its entirety in one setting, originally the only break was after Great Gig in the Sky, because you had to flip the record. In the last 10 or 15 years I have bought 7 CDs and instead of finding one that would play straight, they have inserted breaks after every song and the money hungary music industry has managed to completely destroy one of the worlds finest musical
albums ever composed, produced, and recorded .

Have rare copy with gatefold inner panel upside down. And the "money" misprint.

May 30, 2015
Misprint lyric on the track "Money."
The jacket-lyrics read "keep your hands of my stack," when it SHOULD READ "keep your hands OFF my stack."

This is the single greatest documentation of the human condition that I have ever encountered. If you're lucky, there comes a time when you see things as they really are. This is quickly followed by a period of despair when "things as they really are" doesn't live up to what you expected. Time marches on and all you can do is find things to occupy yourself and you pretend like hell that there is some meaning to it. Maybe, maybe not. In keeping with the string of synchronous events that have punctuated my long time relationship with this work of art, I hear the town clock chime as this sentence leaves my fingertips. It's a strange world, indeed, and one that never fails to make you wonder.

On one of the darkest nights I can remember, this album saved my life. And I often think to myself that I don't listen to it nearly enough. Whether I change that or not, this album will always be one of the nearest and dearest things to me. There are secrets here and it's hard to say for sure exactly where they came from, but very comforting to know they are there.
