Notes

Made in the EU.
CONTINU/ATION is exclusive to the box set, as are the larger memorabilia items, which are reproduced in actual size for the box.
The package contain more than 100 photographs of Pink Floyd; the majority of which are previously unseen, as well as more than 40 items of memorabilia in special wallets.
In addition, Pink Floyd's first five UK singles have been included in the box, on 7" vinyl with replica sleeves:
PFREYS1 - Arnold Layne,
PFREYS2 - See Emily Play,
PFREYS3 - Apples And Oranges,
PFREYS4 - It Would Be So Nice,
PFREYS5 - Point me at the Sky.
It is noted that BR5 has a copy of the the whole 'Meddle' Album in 5.1 and a new stereo mix.
This is not accessable through the menu as an Easter egg, but can be accessed using Blu ray editing software.
As this is not officially available, I have not noted the contents on the disc.

In France, letter included in the box :
Dear fan,
the CD 1972 Obfusc/ation PFREY6 present in your boxset "The Early Years" presents an error of production: the recording STEREO 2016 MIX of PINK FLOYD "Live At Pompeii" was reproduced instead of the announced recording Obscured By Clouds 2016 Remix.
You will find attached a CD 1972 Obfusc/ation PFREY6 of replacement corresponding to the original tracklisting.
Thank you for understanding

Does anyone know the barcode found on the EU/UK box set? I'm overwhelmed by all the images that were uploaded, GREAT JOB, but the barcode image seems to be missing. Does this actually carry a different barcode from the "purported" Japan issue 0-889853-61952-8?

holy shit, look at this! alot of this stuff i've been slowly collecting on bootlegs, and just when i have everything i think exists that i feel a need for in my collection, bam! like, where the hell did those john latham tracks come from? is there any info about their recording? (honestly i havent looked beyond the notes in the box, i'm mostly just happy the recordings exist)
one criticism, i was super excited to get the track seabirds, a really good song from "more" not included on the soundtrack album. the only copy i could so far find has the voiceover from the film obscuring the music. unfortunately the song on this box isn't seabirds at all. seabirds has vocals that include the lyric "seabirds". oh well, one still in the can. but a really really great one.

For me as a fan of early Floyd especially this box is like a dream and of course in this box is a lot of music which is quite dreamy, you know. All their early avantgarde music and the way they made it to the top with "Dark Side" in 1973 has ever been exciting to me.
I´ve always been looking for lots of Floydboots but this box has it all, many many video snippets, GREAT outtakes and all the background information you need to understand how they´ve come from their very strange experimental recordings to very straight and captivating songs. If you want to know something about theatre, earliest POP videos and psych trips in which Pink Floyd themselves play a part in you simply get lost in all this kind of stuff presented here.
I´ve never been interested in their latest box sets but with this one they really caught me and although it was so expensive I´ve loved to spend my hard earned money.
Pink Floyd were one of the biggest acts in the music industry and no one but themselves has reflected this music industry so harsh as they did with their music and their lyrics, but of course this was a bit later.
I don´t know why many people react so negative to their early experimental avantgarde but check out films like "The Committee" and you may be frightened or you may see things much clearer after watching them or in the worst case you may just get paranoid.
With this box they did me a favour. I love the little "errors" like the replacement CD and the hidden "Meddle" Album in 5.1.
For me this makes the box all the more unique.
Listen to many of these early experiments late at night or in a darkened room, be a part of the music itself and it may get you or you´ll just get lost. Here is lots of stuff which I really have never seen or heard before and some of this is REALLY great.
Congratulations to all the people involved. This time you really got me and believe me after spending my money so voluntarily, I´m a very poor person now. Mmmh?! Merry Christmas.

Can someone post a photo of the box next to something that will give us an idea of its size. Even if it's just a person or a ruler?

I nearly laughed out loud when the guy behind the counter said that it was easy to forget that Pink Floyd were around long before the album Dark Side Of The Moon was recorded. He then went on to inform me that they once strolled the planet as the largest band in the world for many years. Of course I didn’t want to be a smart aleck, but I couldn’t help myself saying that before Dark Side Of The Moon the band had record seven albums, none of which invaded the top 40, and that for nearly my whole life, it was ‘the’ album to play while considering which stereo to purchase, not to mention that it nearly took up permeant residence on the charts, lasting a staggering 900 weeks.

But all of that is so long ago that enough time has passed that someone thinks we should yet again purchase Pink Floyd’s entire catalog … in this case The Early Years 1965 - 1972, which I’m more than certain, to be followed at a later date with the middle years and the later years, which will just about be in time for a new issue on some sort of formate that has yet to be discovered. Having owned Pink Floyd on vinyl, cassette, CD, an one version of Wish You Were Here on 8-Track, I was more than a bit reluctant to even consider this adventure, which is massive.

You need not worry, I’m not going to go into the band’s history, boring you which facts such as David Gilmour replacing Syd Barret, or that LSD can be a lot of fun if done in moderation … but then Pink Floyd were always over the top with everything. Simply put what you’ll be handed once you fork over a truckload of money is the story of Pink Floyd divided into six volumes, along with a seventh volume that is made up of stray recordings and videos that have somehow managed to have been ignore on other releases. If you listen and read, you’ll understand that this boxed set is designed to move the listener from the band’s humble beginnings, to the apex of a musical career … from their original single “Arnold Layne,” not Arnold Lane as in a street name, but as in the name of a clothing stealing transvestite. Not one of the albums presented is in its entirety, but is intermixed with the constant evolution of songs, one even includes Frank Zappa, meaning that at some point you’re going to feel that this catalog gets rather repetitive to say the least.

Now, the kicker is how they market this opus, projecting the notion that it’s not at all designed for the casual fan, meaning that if you’re not dead serious about Pink Floyd, then you’re just a passing cloud on the horizon of a mind and musical altering concept known simply as The Floyd. There are over 125 remastered tracks, along with 15 plus enhanced hours of DVD that claim to be the definitive answer as to who the band was and how the got there … though within all of this material, no one answers the single burning question, ”Which one’s Pink?”

IMHO a must have. Just listen the BBC Live session on the REVERBER/ATION cd and the Live In Pompei cd.

Is the supplementary disc (CD 11-Live at Pompeii) included in all copies of this set? I don't see the disc listed on the official track list on Floyd's website.
