I bought this recently and I can definitely tell it was very influential, however as is sometimes the case the originators of a genre can sound a little dated and so it is with this. Good for anyone with a historical interest in where death metal began, just don't expect a lot variety or depth.

The first death metal album ever. Most of the thrash bands of the time were bringing out some classic releases, but this was something else entirely. From the minute the Mike Oldfield intro bursts into The Exorcist, it's like being on an express train to Hell. When I bought this album back in 85, I had no idea what it would do to me, but put me on the right path it did! These days, it does sound a bit dated, but that's probably due to its simplistic nature. For me, this is one of the greatest albums ever created and it's a shame Possessed couldn't follow it up on their later stuff.

It is missing the Back On Black release, that is a white LP limited to 500 copies, I think...
