Primal Scream - Trainspotting.
The good news is, if you've never heard this track you can hear it in a scene from the film of the same name. In case you need reminding, it's the scene where Renton and Sick Boy are in the park and shoot the Skinheads Staffordshire Bull Terrier in the nuts with an air rifle, whereupon the dog then attacks the owner. The bad news however, is you only get to hear about 3 minutes of the track. Trainspotting is described here as being breakbeat, downtempo, which I suppose it is in a way. However, as a piece of music it's so much more than that. So much so in fact, that it's very difficult to Pigeon hole it into any particular box. And even if you could, it would only smash its way back out again.

With a running time of 10:33 one would imagine that things would start to get a little tired after say, 7:00 minutes or so but they don't, far from it. That depth charged bass line and rolling drum loop just keep bounding along relentlessly, pausing briefly every once in a while to surface, take a little look around before dipping its head once again, dropping back under and bounding on some more. Blinding.
