Out of curiosity did anyone else when they purchased this album new have "45 RPM" written on the labels with a Green . Marker? A friend and myself picked up the LP the same day but mine had that written on the labels, would like to find out why its there (cause it already says it at the bottom of the label) or if anyone else has a copy like this.

I love this album, and think it is a great return to form for Primus. However, I have purchased two copies now from completely different sources only to find the second disc so badly warped that it is totally unplayable. Anyone else have this problem? Wondering if I should keep trying.

Nowhere near one of Primus' best efforts, "Green Naugahyde" is a reminder of the importance and lasting effects that the chemistry between band members has on the songwriting process, and also of the disastrous consequences that one fundamental band member leaving can have on a great band like Primus.
I think this album is flat (production- and performance-wise), boring and completely uninspired. Primus on this record are a shadow of their former selves, and it's really a shame. Tim Alexander's absence is evident like never before: Brain Mantia was a worthy replacement, but just never stood a chance when compared to Tim's authority, especially in the composing department. Same, or more, goes for Jay Lane on this record. His monotone, repetitive, utterly boring delivery makes my hopes for a fun record to listen to drown to unfathomable depths, after the interesting EP "Animals Should Not Try..." had partially fixed the mess left behind by the stink-bomb that was "Antipop".
The songs on this album literally march at the same pace for the record's whole duration, like a group of aimless, brainwashed soldiers walking one after the other off the edge of a cliff for no apparent reason. There's no fun, no funk and no fuzz left in Primus' sound as shown on Green Naugahyde, so I suggest we dust off their early stuff and listen to that instead. I'm sure we won't regret it.

This album is great. Age has not stopped Primus from putting together a really memorable, cohesive record, from start to finish. As with all good Primus, it's goofy at times, which is not a knock on it at all. The production is perhaps a bit low & overdone, but it works well, especially with Les Claypool's bass parts. The vocals range from from soulful to goofy to downright creepy, which keeps things interesting. Standouts include Eternal Consumption Engine, Hoinfodaman, Eyes of the Squirrel, Lee Van Cleef, and Jilly's On Smack.

As for the vinyl itself, the translucent green looks fairly cool, and the album art is very well done--it looks like something out of a children's I Spy book. The CD is a nice bonus, and it has a neat, green pattern as well.

Does anybody know what "D" means for the numbering? My copy is "D/750" - thanks!

My copy of this was a bit shite... the hi-pitched sounds are really harsh and kind of "stand out" of the mix. The Hi-Hat in particular is the problem... it sounds kind of harsh/distorted/nasty. Is this a fault with my copy, or have other people noticed the same issue?

I've tried listening on a couple of different decks and with different headphones so that's not the problem. I'm pretty sure it's the vinyl.

I still rated this 5/5 as it's a killer album, but I'm sadly not enjoying the vinyl as much as I do the CD, which is PLAIN WRONG!
