Now I see the prices have gone up considerably to about 1200 $, There are some idiots and I do mean that sellers who are trying their luck to become millionaires but quite honestly, start investing on Wall Street instead of Discogs, U are killing discogs and I for one have found other places and even gone back to eBay as it's more likely to win an auction and get it cheaper there, so for now I will settle for my CD. And I bet you, nobody will pay that price. It's just taking up space being listed here. What Discogs could do to Sellers like this would be a price for any listing and if it doesn't sell the price will be covered until it meets the supply and demand criteria. If it doesn't sell.....the price is too high even for the demand. And if it doesn't sell for 500 $ it's not likely it will sell for 1200 $.

Has anyone got any idea if this album is likely to get a vinyl re-release?

Although I own this, I would say to anyone to be very careful about buying it especially at the eye watering prices. All of Prince's releases pressed by Redline were pressed with varying degrees of quality control, in my experience. When this was released it was announced that only 500 were manufactured (I see 1000 in another comment but the blurb at the time was 500). I have seen 3 copies of this in my life (including my own copy) and every single one was pressed poorly with non-fill all over the place (especially on side 4). My (originally sealed) copy sounds perfect but if you were inspecting it as a collector you wouldn't consider it as a viable record and not for £100+ let alone £500 or £1000. They were pressed on flimsy vinyl too. All I am saying is, if a copy you are buying is open, ask the seller to be very specific about the condition of the discs-knowing the quality of the pressing as I do, I would not pay such a premium price despite the album being (in my opinion) excellent musically. I am sure a repress is in the offing once Prince's estate is sorted out properly. When it is I would love for Emancipation to be released on 3 LPS (my cassettes are now ragged) as well as Chaos & Disorder (another mid 90s bit of dynamite) and Crystal Ball as a 4 LP spectacular. Fingers crossed. Happy hunting one and all. I know having originals is the ideal but really this was not a "great" pressing so just be careful with your hard earned money.

Not sure if this is true but Sleeveography states only 1000 of these were made. I tried to contact Redline to verify but it appears they are out of business. I bought one when it came out and am glad I did, would never sell it. As for the prices, supply and demand. It is what it is. People selling these can ask what they want and somebody just might pay. Personally I don't think this will be re-issued, not by Warners anyway. They don't have the master. We shall see,,,

Just waiting for a Re-issue and hopefully on 180 Gr. Vinyl. Maybe that will sink these ridiculous prices.

Resellers should REALLY stop with the ridiculous pricing of this one! Before Prince death this was listed for usually around 200-300 max then the day of Prince death some slimy seller list a copy for 1,999usd... disgusting! And now sellers are listing it for 999usd & more?! Get a grip guys! Pretty tacky tactics
