Very good album, very good music. High singing, good vocals. Groovy+dangling+strong+epic+good basslines. Modern Funk at its best!! Do some more music like this, Psychic Mirrors... If you want to, but yeah. I'd love it!

Production is very slick, tight, & funky. This is the strong point of the album. The vocals? not so much....Would have been nice to hear some really strong & soulful vocals on this. Or just keep it as inst, as the production stands on it's own.

One of the tracks samples/covers an obscure boogie track. I think it's shock treatment... John Boogie at Groove Merchant was playing the original and I pointed it out. Anyone know?

Since it's full fledged emergence from the underground in 2009 with the release of Dam-Funk's titanic Toeachizown LP, the Modern Funk scene has produced an abundance of delights. Centred principally in Los Angeles on labels such as Stone's Throw, MoFunk, Hobo Camp, Voltaire, and others, the sound has only gone from strength to strength and has now spread across to Europe, giving rise to labels such as Born to Shine, Boogie Cafe and others. At the very peak of this enormous mountain of creative, fresh and powerful material that constitutes the Modern Funk scene stands this album right here. The Nature of Evil LP by Psychic Mirrors stands alone as the best collection of tracks in the Modern Funk scene. The combination of sleazy and cinematic is pulled off to perfect effect under the guidance of impresario Mickey de Grande IV, the brainchild of this group of artists. Every track is amazing and i really mean it. Very top of the pile. Nothing currently comes close to this. Modern Funk perfection.

By far, the best record of the year. Crisp and clear in production and very much so mentally/visually descriptive as if were actually the score for an actual low budget horror flick. It's a refreshing take on what Modern Funk can be. Glad I found out about it a few days after the pressings were released as it WILL be considered a classic in upcoming years.
