THIS.CO is a label raised from the ashes of SPH, a cassette label from the Nineties who released some interesting material (including an album by MERZBOW). Their main theme was harsh noise and experimentalism. After battering our ears with so many pain-inducing recordings, they now offer us, on their new shiny label, a soothing antidote.

RASAL.R'SAO fall into the ambient dreamscape category where VIDNA OBMANA reigns supreme. And while Mr. SERRIES may have an almost supernatural ability to weave beauteous curtains of mist around the listener, RASAL.R'SAO does not lag too far behind.

This music has a tranquility of drifting starlight, a passive magic show quality where the listener is lulled into calm as the layers billow and ripple. The notes have no edge, no attack, making it sound more like tones have been blended in direct from the mixing desk. And as level as each layer seems to be a beam of bright gold, they shimmer and shine like beams of sunlight forming in a darkened room - where dust motes play in gentle drifts, making what was superficially just a shaft of golden light seem so much more complex, full of shimmering wonder.
