There were some discussions in the forums of Discogs once where someone asked what were the tracks with the most remixes. In the list given, there was 'Conway' by Reel 2 Real. With 11 versions on this single, 2 more on the UK release and the album version, that brings the total to 14. Yes, it's as mad as the stuntman...
Believe it or not, 'Conway' was the fifth single from the album 'Move It!'. In 1995, the dance market was flooded by Eurodance productions. So, many versions were made for the single to be played in any possible set.
The radio and club mixes are probably the best versions (the album mix, not on this single, is a good fusion between both). They were the most played versions in 95 as far as I remember. The 'Erick More Meets CZ101 Mix' was largely inspired by Livin' Joy 'Dreamer' - a project of Visnadi, which C*Y*B* Remix on this release is an Eurodance version of 'Conway'. Nothing too original.
Tracks 4, 8 and 9 were remixed by Keith Kitman. The Konway and Maniac mixes are similar, very Eurodance oriented, while the Subway Mix is more classy House.
Armand Van Helden, still in his big sirens days, goes for a conventionnal raggamuffin/breakbeat version.
The Full On Vocal Mix emphasize on the reggae/dub influence of the track, but still keeping it House. An interesting variation, with a few different melodies played one after the other in the middle. The Up Yer Dub is the Eurodance counterpart.
So many years after the release of 'Conway', little remains. Musically, Erick Morillo delivers a good dark anthem, but on which the hysterical vocals seems out of place.
