Two tracks which appear on the CD version of the "Penetration" [LINO030miniCD] album by Regis, released by Downwards in 2001. However, both were left out of the vinyl version.
Her Surrender, a noisy, rapid and pounding techno banger, is a vintage floor shaker, with hisses and static electricity friction throughout, yet despite its heavy pressure and grating bass line, it remains more accessible than some of Karl O'Connor's previous works, mainly stuff like the "Blood Into Gold" and "Divine Ritual" EPs. The track is some ninety seconds longer than the CD version, that is due to the fact there is a short, leftfield ambient track at the end, mixed in with the fading music, where on the "Penetration" album, as soon as the percussion and all is gone, the track ends as well.
Aftertaste Of Guilt is right along the lines of Her Surrender, and comes in the same version as on "Penetration". Linear, crispy production for those who like to lose it on the dance floor to some no-nonsense dark industrial techno from its Birmingham baron - Regis.
If you like what you hear, you can comfortably move onto "Penetration", as it is an entire album with tracks just like these two. Best of all is that it has been re-relased just this year, so you can pick up a brand new copy for the price of a sued "Exercise For Institutions" vinyl.
