SOUNDING LIKE THE WORST Boston bar bands of the 80s (AEROSMITH, J. GEILS BAND) replete with sultry female backups, thin ties and showman suits, fucked up names and horns, oh the horns! - ROCKET FROM THE CRYPT frontman John Reis has turned his back on earthmoving music like Circa: Now!s "Ditch Digger" opting to face the mtv generation with fifties revivalist crap (Spending time at Gold Star Studios probably didn't help). If this is a bid to infuse today's rock and roll with the simplistic energy of yesteryear (there are numerous bands carrying that torch) I want nothing to do with it. Their quest to be a mainstream band brought them knocking on Kevin Shirley's (JOURNEY, BLACK CROWES, AEROSMITH) door to produce this three legged dog. I'm anxiously awaiting for Reis to work with Rick Froberg again; letting his guitar drive like jehu in tearing me a new asshole...
