Sure, the man is in fine voice and the songs are good, but the arrangements and playing by Overkill River manage to make the music sound at times like frickin' Coldplay or something. Personally, I'll take the simple roots-rock stylings of All That May Do My Rhyme or the lo-fi eternal strums of Never Say Goodbye - from whence some of these songs came - any time over all that grand orchestral indie gospel piano stuff.
