Thanks for the reviews of this pressing, because of them I grabbed a new copy for £15.99 !
I have the first pressing bought on release, but a fresh copy will be a great addition !
Thank you both 👍

Just spinning my copy.. it sounds fantastic to my ears. Clean and crisp, no surface noise...plays at 33rpm too, like the black vinyl re-issue from 2011. It has different labels from the 2011 version, no picture, just pink writing on both sides.

Top quality. Music is full, rich, detailed. Defined low end, punchy drums, focused midrange, clear highs. Nice expansive soundstage with excellent clarity and separation. This edition sounds awesome. Such a great listen and a nice flawless pressing devoid of pops, clicks, noise, etc...Happy to have grabbed this one.

Is this reissue 33rpm instead of the original's 45rpm ? ?

True music masterpiece, surely one of the best Wave albums together with "Feeding The Flame".

I don’t think a lot of folks are aware of this band, probably because their early records have been out of print for a long time and I don’t think they were widely distributed to begin with. This disc is actually a compilation of three early 7″ singles and their first LP.

SLAG were an 80s guitar based post-punk band similar to other groups at the time, but they had a unique personality compared to other bands of this type. Ringing guitars, deep bass lines, monochrome production, etc. There is certainly enough bite in their sound, but overall I’d say they are somewhat less aggressive than bands like the Chameleons at their most intense. The music is dark, but never gets overtly cheesy, or gloomy for gloom’s sake. They know how to write songs with hooks and don’t lay on the synths too heavily. Some of the tracks like “Imagination” and “Lost in a Moment” would’ve made some very classic dark pop singles back in the day if the band had more visibility then. Certainly on par with what groups like Echo and the Bunnymen had to offer. While there are some dated elements to the recording as with any record from this time period, these songs have aged pretty well. I really like the vocalist for this band, he has a nice mid range voice and actually sings melodies without sounding too silly or over the top (read: goth). The liner notes mention some comparison to a “pastoral Pink Floyd”, which is apt I guess, though more in terms similarity in mood than a real musical comparison. Think “Meddle”, maybe.

Definitely worth checking out if you like this sort of thing.
