More modern 60s power pop from Saint Etienne on their single THE BAD PHOTOGRAPHER. "Hit the Brakes" combines a fuzz guitar with occasional bursts of noise (the eponymous brakes, I assume), while "Swim Swan Swim" is a perfectly cheery instrumental. But the final track, "Madeleine," is the one that takes the cake, a delicate track in 3/4 time. As tender and fragrant as fabric softener.
