Samul Session makes his transition from his very African-influenced Cycle label to his more melodic and often Latin-based SLS label. Appropriately titled "New Soil," the double EP fuses tough, sexy rhythms with just the right amount of melody. While Velvet is indeed beautiful, perhaps less obvious are Body N Soul and Soul Syndrome--simple yet effective techno pieces.

I totally dig this album!!! New soil combines the tribal workouts that samuel l. is famous for, with some very warm detroit-flavoured influences... Especially lush, body n' soul and velvet make this album a true masterpiece... Make sure you get hold of a copy!

Wow! Velvet realy roxx... it is the most powerfull song of SLS...maybe it's even better than Tribe Cut, but they aren't really similar except for that powerfull dub... When I heard the begining of Velvet - I thought that he freaked out because those synth melodies at the begining were very weird and funny... After some time, I got them seriously... And when the dub came to fade in somewhere in the 50th second, I realised I heard the song on a live and that I love it! Rhytm is just excellent - nothing complicated except those tribal drums... And those serious house melodies... It's great... If this is how New Soil sounds - Wow! I didn't hear Danses D'Afrique but it's very popular - I heard... What is the Funk D'Void Remix of Velvet like and what are the other songs on New Soil like? As for Velvet...No More Comments
