Emerge 1 is a track that drills into your head from the first beat. No nonsense, straight punch to the gut house varietal of the finest ilk.

No getting over how sick this one is, a proper introduction to the series as well as the next logical step to follow the bet placed by Basic Channel. While you can hear Substance and Vainqueur's individual styles, it merges into one statement: 'Emerge'.

The A side remains one of the defining statements of dub techno minimalism: nothing happens, simply a hard, metallic sequence and intense bass with simple drum programs and heavy filtering of the components. Still rocks a dance floor 20+ years later, not because of its comparative obscurity.

B1 is also cool, a harder alternative with more pronounced percussion and less atmosphere, something for later in the night. The B2 passes by quickly after the preceding epics, a shorter and thicker variation on the theme.
