Scuba's 3rd "Personality" has got a lot of hype during these past few months and it's well deserved. Definately a stand out album of it's kind, however if you've been following Scuba, you have probably heard the "Adrenaline EP". The "Adrenaline" introduced us Scuba's current direction and most of us were blown away. Saying that, if you were already amazed by Adrenaline, then this album won't repeat the trick, coz the whole album has the same retro-futu sound. "Personality" is just as good as "Adrenaline", but there are no surprises anymore. I'm more curios of what Scuba comes up with next...
The standout track for me is definately "Cognitive Dissonance".
Also, check out Scuba's Essential Mix 2012, mad stuff.
2012 has seen so much good music, the number 2012 has a unique feel to it. It's like 1984 all over again. 2012 is the cool year of present times and Scuba plays a big part in it.
"Personality" 5/5
"Adrenaline" 5/5
PS! Scuba's production skills are top notch! Love to hear those old sounds/efx with such great quality to it!

This third album by Scuba finds him in a sunny disposition, at least compared to his first two full-lengths. I enjoyed them very much (note that both of them are unique records, even if they do share a similar "cold" overall sound), but this album goes in an entirely different direction, sounding like a glorious 90s throwback without being too cheesy about it. He clearly holds 90s house, big beat and techno in high regard (and why shouldn't he?), and those influences seep through nearly every pore of this album, from the ecstatic vocal samples to the peak-time synth swells. A lot of reviews talk about how potentially divisive it's likely to be, and that's very true; die-hard fans of his tight, austere dubstep and downtempo will probably feel alienated by the way he avoids those sounds here. But no matter what it's worth a listen -- if you still don't like it after a couple of plays then it's simply not for you. For the rest of us, though, we'll be content to bask in its warm, familiar glow.
