I've never digged that deep into Oliver Ho's discography but over the time quite a few of his releases have found its way to me, though this is probably the most uncommon I've heard so far. Three timeless and deep techno tracks on this one.
A1 takes the win for me, a hypnotic track driven by a nice sequence and some sonar-like sound effects. No percussion on this one, neither tribal stuff nor hi hats, but subtle changes over time. Somewhere along the lines of Jeff Mills meeting up with Chain Reaction.
A2 follows that path but here percussion is added. Again a transforming synth line is all Oliver Ho needs to keep the track flowing. Good, deep techno that could have been released at any time but rarely is in this quality.
The B side is the harder cut here, with a bold and stubborn bassdrum and nervous hihats layered over an somewhat uncomforting lead synth. A pad gets faded in giving some great detroitish atmosphere again reminiscent of the good old Mills legacy.
Nice work really, a very well rounded three tracker containing great tools that stand easily on their own.
As with most on Continual a shame that it's so overlooked.
