Notes

Made in England.

℗ 1977 Virgin Records Ltd.

First UK pressing, often claimed to be 1,000 copies pressed, but that low figure is highly unlikely given both how many copies are out there and that 3 different sets of pressing plates were used in multiple configurations.

Originally planned to be released as promo only, but eventually released commercially earlier than expected due to the rushed-out French pressing being imported to UK.
Plain pink back cover, 11 tracks only.
No poster, no freebie 7" included.

Most copies are sent to France to counterattack massive UK-imports from Barclay Records. They are also sold in the UK, Scandinavia and the USA (as seen on the photos, record was imported to the US through JEM Records).

I have matrix V 2086 A5-B5 in excellent ++ condition ( both sleeve and LP). It has 11 tracks plus printed tracks on rear of sleeve. Can anyone advise as to what variant this could be. Thanks in advance

I think the 1000 copies only is most unlikely. I lived in the sticks in Worcestershire UK a the time, and knew 3 people who bought the 11 track LP when it came out. Don't think they even came with the Submission single, although I do remember one of those kicking around.

First UK pressing, approximately 1000 copies..... and 1542 Discogs members have it. What are the odds?

I can't believe that there are only 1000 copies of the 11 track lp! If there are six different pairs of matrix number configurations of A/B with 1/3 (see above) then pressing plants of the time would not have done such a short run on each pressing for what was a hugely anticipated album. That would mean less than 200 for each pressing!? Really! Hardly worth prepping the machine for.

This album is amazingly overhyped, listen to some Dead Boys instead. Their first record "Young Loud and Snotty" came out just a couple weeks before this hunk of junk. Sid was a junkie that had no clue what he was doing, and only appears for a few seconds on one song on this record.

I have a V2086 A2/B3 version. I bought it in the late 80s off a chap who said he'd originally bought it in France. It had the single sided Submission single with it but I've no idea if it originally came with this or the chap acquired it later (seems like chrisbrown is asking the same question). Like PunkCollector said the best info about all of this can be found at http://www.philjens.plus.com/pistols/pistols/nmtb_worldwide_index.htm. I emailed the guy (Phil) there about mine and his simple answer was "Seems like combinations were endless!" So unless anyone here is more knowledgeable I'm sticking by his info. 1000 made but more than a 1000 owned??? I've taken images of mine and I know it's genuine - the question is where does it fit into the story. I'd suggest other folk take photos too - let's see matrix, covers, labels.
