Beautifully textured work basking in the shimmering techno sunlight courtesy of the not particularly prolific Atobe. Released on Demdike Stare's imprint, this doesn't exactly recall his labelmate's own multi-hued productions, but there's a savvy mind at work here, formatting a collection of seductive, hypnotic, attention-grabbing grooves, spasmodic, glitchy bass configurations, and weirdly pulsing, tactile ambience that manages to evoke warm & familiar sensations. The lengthy title track is where all these disparate elements come together in one heady brew, but taken in totem, this is a singularly gratifying trip across a colorful tableau of digitally-wrought landscapes. First class.

Many have come before me, but I discovered this album only quite recently. It must be said: this album reminds me of what good minimalistic house is able to do: endless grooves of simple but effective melodies... It's interesting, because the arrangement of the tracks here is much more similar to that of minimal techno than typical minimal house from back in the day, although most tracks have a very warm, more housy feeling; a sound you don't encounter a lot. In terms of sound design, there are also some interesting things to be noticed, which are all very 'minimal' in a sense: e.g. instead of constantly using all frequencies "to the max", some midrange elements only pop in when the track is halfway. Also the extreme panning of some elements adds to the whole atmosphere. This is achieved by great mastering, but not to forget, also a sublime mixdown. A very intense and beautiful album from a very gifted artist!

Full-length debut from the elusive Shinichi Atobe, known for an incredible 12 on Chain Reaction almost 15 years ago and never seen or heard from since. Audio mastered and cut by Matt Colton.

Beautiful music.
Thank you for the re-repress.
However, I don't think three pressings will be enough ; )

I complained over Colton's mastering on Fluxion's Vibrant Forms reissue but he really did a great job here, just listen to Free Access Zone 7.

Cover is a homage to 'Biologia Marina' compilation on the Rhombus label, a 70's italian library affair.
