This is by far my favorite Skinny Puppy album. I loved listening to this one during summers off from school. I agree with previous posters that Assimilate, Deadlines, The Choke and Last Call are the most focused songs on this release. Assimilate is arguably the best single they ever recorded but this record is not as straight forward as other puppy releases. It has loads of instrumentals that are musically beautiful with some that will leave you scratching your head. The tracklistings varied on the vinyl and cassette editions, both domestically and over seas. This CD version was released in 1993 and combines all of the tracks onto one disc with the outtakes included. Highly recommended for any fan of industrial, alternative or exotic music. 5/5

I have found Dead Lines, Assimilate, and Last Call to be the most powerful, driving tunes on this dated and strange album. It contains almost every element of music other than classical and pop. They utilize ambient structures, heavy metal guitars, rap-like verbiage, and a techno-ish foundation. The lyrics are so focused that they somewhat repeat themselves, but they do address all issues worth discussing. Live shows seem to be disturbing in that they are covered in "blood" and vomit constantly during the show. Who cares though? I've only been to less than 10 shows because they are so expensive and time consuming. I'd rather hear one song with 100% effort rather than 20 songs half-heartedly sung.

What would a Skinny Puppy fan be without this release? Totally lost. This release is exactly what the band was about during the 80's. Some tracks like "Church" and "Christianity" are nothing spectacular but they need to be there for some reason. All the great hits one here; Assimilate, Dead Lines, Icebreaker, Love, The Choke and Last Call.

The "hidden track" One Day sounds very much like a Tear Garden track and I wouldn’t doubt that it was seeing as how Tear Garden released their first album during the same time with them. No SP Fan is a SP Fan without BITES!
