Even at this early age and before truly reaching their full powers, Skinny Puppy were somehow leaving their peers in the dust. "Remission" remains a rewarding listen, even 32(!) years later. An amazing balance of harsh and melodic.

No surface noise on my copy. It had a lot of debris on it from the paper sleeve though. I always run new records through a cleaner because of that.
Sounds great! And holds up well to the original press.

A lot of surface noise but Sounds Okay... Don't have an original pressing to Compare it to. I like how they kept it similar to the original release packaging wise. From what I have read Cevin Key didn't know anything about this re-release and had nothing to do with it (I assume Ohgr didn't either) If they did I'm sure it would have been a much better quality record. I couldn't help my self with this album because unfortunately I don't own any SP Vinyl and this is my favorite album but I don't think I will be purchasing Bites or any other Nettwerk SP re-release.

Been a kiddo while this came to life was trouble-matic. Consider sharing this album to a troop of metalheads which were your pals in 1985, hysterical laughs in your face, they even dare to call it "hairdressing room music" and according to them i was turning gay by listening to such thing. Nevertheless it was funny to see the strangeness painted in their faces.
Years later time paid the tribute and gave me the merit to have found this and to have aknowledge its breakground status.
Any cult metal fan from the eighties should loved this album, this was something that perhaps many bands in the metal camp were trying to express, all the anger and the darkness, the dystopia and the failure, the decadence and the despair, there was only Skinny puppy to do so. They were the only able to express such a complex mix of things.

Gate album for the conjunction of both darkwave and EBM. The immortal benchmark.
No track is boring, focused enterely and have the mutual characteristic from being rythmical and atmospheric at the same time, something truly revolutionary by the time. This is one of those albums that are self explanatory about the general -feeling- and real atmosphere from the 80s.

I find it disgusting how much people are charging for this record right now. Price gougers beware.

Curiously, my Opticon OPR-3001 will not scan this barcode...

Release exactly as pictured (my barcode isn't damaged..)
Matrix/Runout matches on disc.

While the Cassette and CD versions of Remission are nice with the 5 bonus tracks, I still will always love and dig the original 6 tracks on this 12" EP.

Easily, one of if not, my most played SP records. Totally worth it to pick up a copy of the vinyl. I mean, DEFinitely check out Remission PERIOD if you're going to check out Skinny Puppy at all, but this vinyl really holds a special place in my heart.

IMO the perfect place to start when getting into SP for the first time.

Right at the beginning.

All 6 tracks are awesome.

Smothered Hope: a timeless classic, all that needs to be said.

Glass Houses: a wonderfully groovy spooky jam, (if you have this original EP or the cassette, this track sounds especially awesome when pitched down;)

Far Too Frail: instant catchyness and that oh-so-funky bass line, ogres vocals are poppiest here, cant help but wanna bug out to it.

Solvent: dark, hollow, brooding, probably the darkest (and possibly most personal) on the record. then

Sleeping Beast: kicks in and its spazz out time! sparatic and metallic, its Kraftwerk meets Joy Division. Nice Nightmare, She's a Sleeping Beast! almost as catchy as Far Too Frail. and then

Brap… perfect ending. simple, thumping beat, odd spooky sounds, Andy Warhol's Dracula: 'You CANNOT hurt me you FOOL I am NOT one of YOU!' lovely blood curtling women screaming sample, and its over.

24 minutes. short. to the point. Poppy, catchy, gloomy, sinister, forshadowing everything that was about to come.
