As a few said, the rave scene here in the UK was still one. Hardcore and jungle (before it split and became jungle, drum 'n' bass and happy hardcore) was all one, all the DJ's played the music in no particular order and everybody danced regardless!

I for one NEVER stuck to only just one post-94 onwards, I was listening and still do listen to hardcore and jungle!

Back on topic, one of Slipmatt's timeless classics. Both quality tracks in one LP. "Breaking Free" is on the jungle side of things whereas the Elevation 4th's sampling "Hear Me" is on a slightly happier tip!

Timeless classics!

People get too stuck on Genre's. I was 15/16 and buying tapes and collecting Flyers so to young to enjoy the wonders of raving/clubbing (how I longed to go to a Fantazia/Rez etc event). But as everyone knows 93/94 was a cross over period. And a lot of Tracks like this were a hybrid of both Hardcore Breaks/Jungle & Intelligent/Atmosphheric Drum & Bass. The fact is Breaking Free/Hear Me is an outstanding piece of Vinyl. And a true classic from the era.

Back when this was being played out nobody cared if it was called jungle or hardcore, jungle was hardcore. This tune was played by many great dj's on pirate radio back in the day...

One of Slipmatt's best releases. The "stretched" breakdown on Hear Me is pure quality. Nice cross between Happy Hardcore and Drum and Bass. Happy, yet slightly dark and little bit serious. Enjoy!

Massive piece of vinyl! Although Slipmatt is often called 'the godfather of hardcore' and went on to become a huge happy hardcore DJ, this is a very jungle influenced record.
'Breaking Free' is a masterpiece of chopped up beats and has one of the ruffest basslines ever! Still played out to this day. The flipside 'Hear Me' is a slighty happier affair but still a quality tune. One of the first records i ever bought and one where both sides are killers!
